B.A./B.S. in History
The study of history is, at its heart, about understanding past voices, and the nuanced and often very foreign worldviews that gave meaning to the experiences and beliefs of people in past cultures. In turn, this helps us to understand the modern voices of our own time, and aids us in the interpretation of current events, such as global health and disease, social relations, and problems of racial prejudice and intolerance. Upon graduation from the program, SEU history students will have acquired these skills, which are vital skills in any industry.
While knowledge of historical events, places, people, and ideas form the core of our history program, at SEU we believe that studying history is about more than what you KNOW…it is also about what you can DO. Because of this core value, our history students can expect to gain hands-on experience through our multiple off campus study programs, including local internships, various short-term, faculty-led trips, as well as full semesters studying in Rome, Quito, Ecuador, and at Oxford University.
Students will also have the opportunity to intern locally and engage with the rich history of central Florida through SEU’s close proximity to multiple historic locations, including the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world.
