Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland, the College of Arts & Media welcomes Nancy Duarte, a communications expert, best-selling author and CEO of Duarte, Inc., for this year’s “Expressions Storytelling Institute.”

This public event is purposed to equip attendees with increased skill in the art of storytelling for writing and business communication. For this event, Duarte is combining elements of three of her keynote talks––“Recommend,” “Resonate,” and “Lead”––to impart her experiential expertise to the Central Florida area. These talks will teach attendees how to:

  • Recommend: Craft a recommendation from data using StoryThinking to create action.
  • Resonate: Deliver a talk that resonates through story frameworks.
  • Lead: Use LeadershipStories so your team has the emotional environment they need to sustain momentum as you lead the organization.

Each of Duarte’s keynotes is rooted in storytelling principles and will include an opportunity for audience Q&A. Duarte’s firm consults some of the world’s most prominent organizations in the art of visual story, data communications, cultural folklore, and the importance of effective communication to achieve organizational and entrepreneurial goals.

Nancy Duarte has been featured by media sources such as Fortune, Time Magazine, Forbes, Fast Company, Wired, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, LA times, and CNN. Duarte, Inc. has worked with organizations like Apple, Cisco, Disney, Hershey, Hyperloop One, Qualcomm, Salesforce, TED and Virgin.

Expressions Storytelling Institute is a part of the Expressions Storytelling Institute and Writers’ Conference series. Whether you are creating novels, building marketing and public relations campaigns, or just sending emails to clients, the events that comprise “Expressions Storytelling Institute and Writers Conference” will help you master the art of storytelling.
