SEU Choirs to Perform in Ireland

The Department of Music is pleased to announce that the Chamber Singers and Women’s Choir ensembles have been invited to represent the state of Florida in the 2019 Celebration of Music in Ireland. Having received personal invitation from the mayors of Galway and Dublin, along with the Ireland Tourist Board, this is a tremendous honor for the Department of Music and represents a milestone in the life of our choral program.

During this week long trip, the Chamber Singers and Women’s Choir students will perform for large audiences while participating in unparalleled educational opportunities and memories that will last a lifetime. Southeastern University will be represented in venues of the highest musical and historical quality such as the Agape Center in Belfast and St. Andrew’s Church in Dublin.

In addition to raising awareness of our college and university, this trip symbolizes the fulfillment of a dream originally envisioned for this program many years ago.

In that regard, Emily, a recent graduate of Southeastern University remarked, “Being in Chamber singers allowed me to experience tremendous growth as a person and a musician. After one concert specifically, I remember our group dreaming of what it would be like to travel and tour in the United States, let alone abroad. I am so proud to hear our dream is finally becoming a reality and am even prouder of the work and level of musicianship coming out of my alma mater.”

Dr. Gordon, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Southeastern University, has remarked, “We are extremely proud of our students and all they have worked to accomplish. Our choral program has developed into a source of pride for our university and our community. We are thrilled to share the talents of our music students with the people of Ireland.”
